Top Ten Blu-ray Discs
Since DVDs first took over from VHS it was clear that video was developing fast and with the introduction of the new format Blu-ray discs technology has clearly taken a huge leap. The visual quality of Blu-ray far surpasses DVD with incredible detail and is compatible with HD ready televisions and Playstation3. The Blu-ray disc itself can store up to 66% more memory and has useful features such as interactive menus and internet access. To really appreciate the amazing quality of Blu-ray discs here are my top ten films for your collection.
The first film in my list is `Wall-E` It is one of the slightly newer releases but an absolute must for your blu-ray collection. Disney and Pixar films in general work well on blu-ray however Wall-e deserves special mention as this film is visually stunning and this is heightened by the amazing blu-ray quality.
Casino Royale is of course based on Ian Fleming's novel that first introduces James Bond. This is a great example of a film that has fantastic sound and visual quality.
Pinocchio is one of the earliest Disney films and the oldest film on my list, however it is an absolute must-see. This film may be old but it stands the test of time and is beautiful. The first scene alone, moving through the forest is so well done it's almost as if it is in 3D format.
The Planet Earth series by David Attenborough is possibly the best wildlife series ever made. From its incredible footage to its imaginative soundtrack the Blu-ray format brings out every aspect of this amazing exploration of our planet.
The Pirates of The Caribbean, The Curse Of The Black Pearl is a rousing adventure film and from its fantastic CGI effects to its terrific surround sound it is another perfect addition to your collection.
300 is a gripping film based on the Spartan war. Zack Snyder`s vivid imagination is evident in the films original style. The film uses a base of dark colours with splashes of bright reds throughout. The incredible battle scenes alone make this film well worth a look in blu-ray form.
Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire in my opinion, out of the whole series it looks the most beautiful on blu-ray. It is full of action and adventure.
Another example of a great fantasy film to watch on blu-ray is `Hellboy II The Golden Army`. This film is full to the brim with vibrant colours and thrilling action - perfect for an HD format.
And my final film choice is Spider-man. This film has so much action and special effects it is practically made for blu-ray, especially when our hero is flying through the streets of New York.
